Q: Will I be with my child for his or her appointment?

A: We encourage parents to be in the treatment rooms for all new patient, recall and emergency appointments. We prefer that parents and siblings remain in the reception areas during restorative visits (fillings, extractions, space maintainers, sedation etc.). When necessary, we will make exceptions for special needs children.

Many parents are concerned that they cannot be with their child during restorative appointments. Don’t be. We will always start by obtaining your permission to do any necessary treatment, and we have a common goal at Capital District Pediatric Dentistry that all children have positive dental experiences. No matter what type of procedure, your child will be treated with respect. He or she will be informed of everything that will take place. He or she will receive positive reinforcement during the entire procedure. We hope that your child will leave smiling and proud of themselves for what they accomplished.

We request that you remain in the reception area so that your child sees that you trust us, and we can build trust with your child. We also want your child to have his or her attention focused on the dental team and look toward us to get them through the appointment comfortably.

Together we can help your child build a positive attitude toward dentistry.
